"Koji" is a Jeju dialect word meaning a narrow landform protruding into the sea. Seopjikoji is famous for its striking volcanic coastline, red volcanic ash soil (scoria), and picturesque lighthouse standing atop a coastal hill. 

Unlike other rocky coasts in Jeju, Seopjikoji features gentle green hills rolling down to the ocean. In springtime (March to April), the fields transform into a vibrant sea of yellow canola flowers, making it one of the most romantic scenery spots in Korea.
